Hi,
I am sending my revised file. Note the syntax of the printcap file
(the first ":" in a line seems to be important).
Regards
Ralf Beyer
HP Laserjet IIISi on Indigo/Entry running 4.0.1 configured as ATT and BSD
printer. The HP Laserjet is in PostScript mode.
Printer lp4 is defined as sample printer.
ATT: To configure lp4 as ATT printer follow the instructions in the IRIX
documentation. You should be able to print ASCII and PostScript files
by
lp -dlp4 < file.ascii
lp -dlp4 < file.ps
BSD: To configure lp4 as BSD printer proceed as follows:
su
cd /usr/spool/lpd
mkdir lp4
chmod go+w lp4
chown lp lp4
Copy the printcap file into /etc/printcap
-r--r--r-- 1 root sys 1317 Aug 3 09:23 printcap
In /dev make a symbolic link from lp4 to /dev/plp
l--------- 1 root sys 8 Jan 29 1992 lp4 -> /dev/plp
You should be able to print PostScript files by
lpr -Plp4 file.ps
