I just saw this article in comp.protocols.appletalk: ################ henrik@uk.locus.com (Henrik Kristensen) writes: >[Tero Siili writes:] >> >> A couple of questions to Henrik Kristensen: >> >> - When will PC-Interface be available for SGi/IRIX? >Locus Computing has currently no plans to port PC-Interface for >Macintosh to IRIX. >However, I seem to recall that SGI has licenced an AppleTalk stack with ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ >the intent of providing an AppleShare server for IRIX. [stuff deleted] >-- >Henrik Kristensen henrik@uk.locus.com >Locus Computing Corporation ltd, 2 The Waterhouse, >Waterhouse Street, Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire HP1 1ES, UK >Tel: +44 442 236111, fax: +44 442 236453 >Send support questions to: uk-support@uk.locus.com ################ The last statement ( with the ^^^^^'s) is interesting and something I've heard rumoured before. My local SGI office once alluded to an SGI project (collaborative with a third party) to bring native Appletalk (Ethertalk & Localtalk) support to Irises, but that it eventually foundered and nothing ever came of it. Has anyone else heard anything along these lines???? I'd **really** like to have a native ethertalk phase 2 Appleshare server on one of the irises here -- something that CAP currently doesn't support, ian -- /\/\ : Ian Hoyle, Senior Research Scientist / / /\ : Image Analysis Group / / / \ : BHP Research - Melbourne Laboratories / / / /\ \ : 245 Wellington Rd, Mulgrave, 3170, AUSTRALIA \ \/ / / / : Phone +61-3-560-7066 \ / / / : E-mail ianh@resmel.bhp.com.au \/\/\/ : "If the idea of a protocol behaving like a rabid, diseased sex-crased bunny rabbit appeals to you, AppleTalk is for you." -- John Kennedy, comp.dcom.sys.cisco
