Hello: I have been using 'moviemaker' on series of .rgb images. The man page mentions that moviemaker can operate on FIT images, but I have not been able to find any information on this format. Moviemaker runs a lot faster on FIT images, so I would like to create these directly. Thanks a lot! --> Mike

IL provides file I/O calls which support the FIT format. I'm not sure the file format is "documented" in the sense that we publish a document detailing its format. However, if you purchase the ImageVision Library Development option, you are provided with the code to implement the FIT format, as part of a code example for adapting the IL for new image formats. Of course, if you have the IL, you have no need to roll your own FIT image support, as that is already taken care of for you. You can order the ImageVision Library development option directly from SGI. It costs about $500, and is well worth it if you are writing any serious image code on our system. It is essential if you are programming one of the high-end graphics systems, such as VGX or Reality Engine, or have a multi-processor system. m. -- Michael Portuesi Silicon Graphics, Inc. portuesi@sgi.com
