Specifically, >after writing backup superblock 4188320, it reports: "seek error 422344, wtfs: Error 0". The main problem is your partition size. SunOS 4.1.3 is looking for a maximum size of 2 GB. A work-around is to make several partitions on this disk. Another alternative is the Online DiskSuite package available from SunSoft. Solaris 2.x doesn't suffer from this limitation but you're probably not wanting to upgrade your operating system just for this...... The 7200 rpm question is interesting. Solaris 2.x newfs accepts the 7200 rpm parameter without balking. I wonder how much difference it makes in real world filesystem performance? Any answers or opinions from the "You can tune a file system, but you can't tune a fish" crowd?
