Doh! If it's one of the MG4 framebuffers then it won't output colour video
at all. If you can obtain a # 501-1532 that's a P4-bus 'cg6' which is indeed
a colour framebuffer (with D13W3 socket for video output), but # 270-1402 is
the fab code for the # 501-1402 'mg4' monochrome framebuffer. Shows how long
it is since I was tweaking things with my Sun 3/80 system! lol
You can find specs for these in the Sun Field Engineer and System Handbook
Archive at my "http://www.sunshack.org" website:
http://www.sunshack.org/data/sh/2.1/infoserver.central/data/syshbk/Systems/Sun3/FEH3.enter.html
is the entry page to the main Sun-3/3x Handbook section. Then for the
framebuffers themselves, you can navigate to:
http://www.sunshack.org/data/sh/2.1/infoserver.central/data/syshbk/Systems/Sun3/Video_Graphic_TOC.html
and go through the framebuffer data for cards that worked in the Sun-3 and
Sun-3x systems. The 3/80 supports P4-bus framebuffers only. Sbus support was
not offered in any of the desktop Sun-3/3x range.
Regards,
Craig.
