As well as replacing the frame buffer in my 3/60 with a cg6, I'd like to get rid of the standard Zilog Z8530 SCC and replace it with an enhanced version. Only problem is, what versions are around, how good are they, and do they work without any trouble as a drop-in replacement for the standard 8530? I believe that the problems I'm having with getting Zmodem to work over a remote shell are possibly related to flow control difficulties that cause the serial buffers on the 3/60 (if the drivers implement buffering at all) are overflowing. I've seen reference to a version of the 8530 that has a FIFO buffer built into the chip which acts transparently as though it's not there when used with software designed to work with the standard chip. Is this true? If so, who makes it and where could I get a couple? Thanks in advance.... Craig. -- Craig Dewick (Freight Raver Craig). Residing in downtown Sydney, Australia.
