Will Parker writes, >I am particularly interested in high level programming support for >filesystems which have at least some of the functionality of UNIX. What level of programming support is provided >for these TRAMS - is it simply in terms of low level control blocks ? > >And finally has anyone implemented any form of distributed filesystem >based on the use of several SCSI interfaces in a transputer array. Perihelion Software Ltd. is currently beta testing a Berkely Fast File system server for Helios. The server currently supports the Parsytec and Transtech SCSI boards, and the M212 (where is the M222?) though I suspect there is interest in porting to additional boards. The server manages caching, and implements a standard file system with the BSD file naming conventions. As a result of the distributed nature of Helios, one can make use of multiple SCSI interfaces in a network of transputers, though there is currently no support for creating the appearance of a single distributed file system (how do other people do this?). MIMD Systems will soon be performing the initial development required to develop a distributed fault-tolerant file system from arrays of SCSI boards. Regards, Steven W. Engle Senior AI Software Engineer MIMD Systems, Inc.
