flickering video on z100

I've got a z100 low profile unit; a few days ago, the screen started
"shimmying" around; it's worst right after power up, but it continues as
the machine runs & warms up. Any suggestions as to probable causes?
I've got a spare system & monitor to try parts swapping on...

Thanks!

I noticed this on both my standard green screen and a Tandy CM5 color monitor -
just after I put an external modem on top of the Z, right next to the
monitor. Do you have anything with a transformer nearby? Other than that, I
did have an aging problem with my green monitor - horizontal drive would blink
out occasionally, and only a good whack would cure it.. then that stopped
working. I ended up resoldering the flyback transformer to the main PC
board - because of the weight it had worked a bit loose. I also tried
swapping guts (all but the tube) with another monitor I had bought
surplus (with really bad screen burn-in) and that worked, for a while, till
the same transformer problem attacked it.

Hope this all helps!

I would try replacing the monitor. It sounds to me like an internal
oscillator is going in the monitor. If another monitor exhibits the
same behaviour, I would look for some external factor, like an
unsheilded speaker or motor near the monitor (with 3 feet). The
last thing I would check is the power supply on the Z110.

				Good Luck.

Try wiggling the video cable and or pinching the RCA (if it is a monochrome
problem) tighter.

Swapping parts is the true test here.

Yes, I have spare tested video boards 64K color for $15 plus $5 ship
if you need one. $10 for 64K green.
