Say, I bought some memory for my father's zenith, but I can't get
the machine to recognize it. The bios if mfm400 and on bootup
it says that there is 7600k memory while setup reports 3300k, press
esc. Thanks

It sounds like you need to run setup and report the new memory there.
Reboot in the monitor program by pushing Ctrl-Alt-Ins and then typing
"setup" at the prompt. Change the memory setup and save the new format
by following the directions on the screen. The error messages should go
away after that.
Good luck,
Louis

Remember this, it will be important later :-)

mfm400 means he is running either a 486 EISA or ISA machine. These
computers have had their ROM based setup moved to the ECU or ICU disk,
respectivly.

Find the original ECU or ICU disk and run it. Look in the users
manual for info on how to run the ECU/ICU.

Thanks, I've gottenn ctrl-alt-ins to work, but there is no "setup"
option in the menu, the MFM400 starts be reporting the correct
amount of memory, maybe I'm just not saving the informatin right?

Thanks

The followup by Jeff Easton from ZDS last week pointed out that your
machine is a 486 and not a 386 (as I mistakenly assumed Sorry :) )
According to Jeff, your setup is no longer in ROM but on a disk.

From Jeff:
You need to find the original ECU or ICU disk and run it.
Look in the users manual for info on how to run the ECU/ICU.

Good luck to you
and thanks to Jeff for pointing out my mistake.
