Thanx to everybody who answered. The answers suggested two solutions.
One is:
TITLE = "Something {{\em Else}}"
which looks at least a bit like the one in the documentation and the
second one:
TITLE = "Something {\em \uppercase{E}lse}"
Anyway, IMHO BibTeX should _NOT_ change case even if one has such an
entry as I used to have. Right?
