Direct inclusion of TIFF-files in DOC ?

As far as I can see, it's not possible to include TIFF-files
in DOC directly. I do not get complaints when trying, simply
an empty frame. Idraw can do this. Saving these pictures from
Idraw and then including in DOC works, but gives _HUGE_ files.

So my question is:

What is required to include TIFF-files in DOC directly?
Has anybody done this?

Any help welcome.

Thanks,
