After seeing rave reviews of dr-dos in these groups, i went out
and bought myself version 6.0. although I was impressed with its
integrated system (especially DiskMax and Memmax) i have one serious
gripe: since loading dr dos, i can't get windows to run with my 256c
TVGA drivers. whenever i'd start windows, all i'd get is the initial
logo, and then a flash (brief) of what might have been my wallpaper. I
know its the driver, because after I went back and reinstalled windows
from the ground up, it worked using vga drivers until i ran setup again
and changed the drivers to the manufacturer-included svga drivers. then,
(whoops, i hate vi-- eve is much better for us illiterates)

CRASH (with windows, helpful as ever, giving me absolutely no error messages
. I tried everything, short of replacing dr dos with ms dos (a little
tricky with a compressed drive). even under himem.sys and smart drive,
with absolutely no parameters and no emm386.sys messing with the umbs, i
couldn't get windows to run with my svga drivers. i am almost certain
it's because dr-dros has done something to my video memory, or mayber
(just maybe) this is one area where sstor isn't completely compatible
with windows (i got this feeling when once, just once, i got an error
statement out of windows to the effect that one of my tvga .386 files
was corrupt: is it possible that when loading drivers windows somehow
bypasses the sstor driver?) anyway, i would be SO grateful if someone on
the would send me some means of help. being somewhat short-sighted, i
loaded dr dos before i sent off the product registration card, which
means i'll have to wait a bit before calling digital research. HELP,
please
