High speed modems and Windows 3.1.

I'm trying to hookup 2 BocaModem 14.4 modems using Procomm for Windows.
Are there any restrictions regarding setting up the serial port speeds
in Windows 3.1? I'd like to use the v42bis compression/correction
protocol and the modem recommends using 57,600bps for the serial port baud
rate. Will this work properly or is it too fast for Windows 3.1 on a 386??

Also, I setup the com1 port using the control panel to 57600 by typing
this value in (it is not available from the speed selection list). Is
it ok to do this?

Hmmm...well, hmm, I had problems setting up my Practical Peripherals 14.4
modem, mostly because my computer apparently doesn't have the chip that is
necessary for it to go high speed. I can comfortably go 19,2 but if I
try to go higher my computer just can't handle it and I lose characters like
crazy. From what I understand there's some chip that I need to replace.

As for Procomm for Windows, all you need to do is select the proper drivers
and when you click the setup button, you should see 57,600 as an option.

Hope this helps.
