A question about X11 and sockets

Hi everyone,

I have an interesting question to ask.

In my program that I write in university I have a window running on an
Xserver. This window shows all other windows currently running on the
Xserver (but itself). It does that by copy each window's image into the
program window.

What I need to do now is to be able to work with each window in my
program, that is to grab X events that my program receives and redirect
them to the real windows (whose images are in my program, of course).

What I would like to know is how do I go about doing that? I believe I
need to use sockets to communicate between my program and the other
windows on the server. Am I right? What should I use: Unix or Internet
domain sockets? Or both?

Generally, how do I position my program between the Xserver and each
client?

I would appreciate any ponters, ideas or further information.

thanks in advance,
Cheers,
Shuky
