Hi there all... I've asked this question once before, but I didn't get much in the way of any answers, but then, I was only posting to comp.sys.sun.admin, hopefully I'll get more response this time. I recently bought a Sun 3/60, used. It's framebuffer seems to be configured (When it boots, it SAYS it...) to be bwtwo1. MOST Sun 3/60s that I know of are configured to be bwtwo0... but, I've installed straight from tape, so my guess is that the sun media knows best. Here's the problem: Whenever I try to run Xsun, I get the following error: Fatal server error: no screens found Argh! SunView runs just fine. I've JUST compiled this thing from X11R5p25 source last night (took in the area of 14 hours)! I don't know what's causing the problem. After the last diskwipe/install, I'd been running SunView for a WHILE before I realized that there IS NO /dev/bwtwo1 device even created! (When I got the machine, it did have one, so now I am getting really confused.) /dev/fb and /dev/bwtwo0 exist, but Xsun gives the same messages when told to use those. I fooled around with mknod'ing my own bwtwo1, but with little success. -- ______________________From the console of:______________________ Marco E. MOST Sun 3/60s that I know of >are configured to be bwtwo0 Easy: You have a motherboard that was sold from the factory as a color (cg4) system. Such boards save a couple of bucks by omitting the on-board bwtwo1. Someone later must have switched the cg4 with a P4-bus bwtwo1. Orrrrrrrrrr, you *do* have an on-board bwtwo0, but also have a cgfour that you're not telling us about. >Here's the problem: Whenever I try to run Xsun, I get the following error: >Fatal server error: >no screens found >/dev/fb and /dev/bwtwo0 exist, but Xsun gives the same messages when told >to use those. Try removing /dev/bwtwo0 and any other /dev entries for fb's that you don't have. -- ======================================================================8--<
