It is a courageous trip for Mr. Harry Wu to go back to China a few weeks ago. He was already a well-known figure and it was clear that a journey to China would be extremely dangerous under the current situation. He is no doubt a hero. You may call his action a revenge. However he has shown the guts to take actions for millions innocent Chinese who died or have been tortured in Chinese labor camps for political or simply no. reasons. It is incomprehensible for me that how someone like you could feel comfortable to wear a pair of socks or shoes that were made by Chinese coolies back to Chinese labor camps? What kind of Chinese job security you were talking about? It seems to me that you were telling the world that come to China to abuse Chinese because Chinese can take more abuse simply for jobs of a few cents an hour. You have to get yourself clear that the winners in the games of poor Chinese working conditions are corrupt CCP officials and American importers/exporters, not your poor Chinese workers. Why it is wrong for Mr. Wu to testify the truth in front of Congress? You are not a businessman. Why do you choose the side of corrupt Chinese officials and American importers/exporters? In article <3ufcsd$pkc@gap.cco.caltech.edu> gao@wag.caltech.edu (Guanghua Gao) writes: > I think many netters have made that clear. Harry Wu's crusade is not about >human rights, it's about revenge. He is hurting heck alot of Chinese as well >*directly*. He has been campaigning for the remove of MFN. If he suceeds, many >of my friends will lost their jobs. It's plain simple. If some American citizens >go to other countries, say Japan and German, advocate banning import of hiking >import taxes from US just because of chain gangs in Alabama, Rodney King beating >in Los Angles or shooting to death of Japanese exchange student and Germany >tourists in Florida, what will be American people's feeling toward these guys. >What if these guys using outragous numbers, such as one third of products >from the state of Alabama are produced by chain gangs, one third of population >in midwest supported the shooting of the Japanese exchange students because the >killer walked free? It's plain simple. If you ever tried to think about Harry >Wu case in a Chinese people's view, especially those whose relatives and >friends' job security are constantly threatened, you'll have a much different >view. > > >Guanghua Gao >
