Ian Ross, Vicar of Shrewsbury Abbey - the 'home' of Brother Cadfael - will describe the origins of the church, the development and life of the Benedictine Abbey, the introduction of the Shrine of St. WInefride, the dissolution of the monastery and the use of the church since then. Details will be given of current development plans, including the installation of an Edith Pargeter Memorial Window featuring St. Benedict. Brother Cadfael, a Benedictine monk of the Abbey in Shrewsbury, is an amateur herbalist and part-time detective. Written by Edith Pargeter who often used the pen name Ellis Peters, they have become popular with mystery fans throughout the world.
