>From: andreamomof2@aol.com (AndreaMomof2) >.but what choices are there for a mother who is in denial and could >never believe her son would do such a terrible thing? *******WARNING! OPINION BASED ON NOTHING BUT SPECULATION TO FOLLOW!!!******* Well... I can only speak from my own experiences. I grew up with a kid named Rich. He was a little heathen. He would break things, punch girls, etc. I'm talking WELL into junior high. Whenever any of the other kids tried to tell his mom of something he had done, she had 2 standard responses "Rich wouldn't do that" or "it's not nice to tattle". Now Rich is in prison for life. Would things have been different if his mother had admitted that he WAS capable of doing those things, and punished him then? I don't know. My ex-husband's mother was also like that. To this day, he has no concept of what personal responsibility is. He's 31 years old and has never had his own checking account. When we were married, he wouldn't hesitate to convert a paycheck to cocaine, because he knew that if he needed it, his mom would give him money. She knew what he was doing, but he was her baby boy, and preferred enabling him to possibly alienating him. Would he still be a lowlife POS if his mom made him face the music on occasion? Again, I don't know. But it seems like an AWFUL lot of kids grow up & do terrible things because of mothers who are "in denial". I have a hard time feeling sorry for Ma Peterson. Scott really reminds me of some of these other boy-men I know who never had to grow up. Granted, I know nothing of his upbringing, but he just seems the type. And I don't know about you guys, but my parents never hesitated to face up to whatever I or my brother or sister had done. Heck, there were times when I'd get chewed out over something someone else did, just because I might be THINKING of doing something similar. And I'm the most responsible person I know, lol. *********End of Opinion********* BTW - here is where that story is: http://abcnews.go.com/sections/GMA/Primetime/GMA030429Laci_psychic.html It doesn't sound like they hired the psychic to exonerate Scott. It doesn't say when exactly the psychic was hired, but it appears to be a while back. At least that's how I'm reading it :)
