Okay, my old sound card bit the dust so I went to get an ISA card to tie me over until I upgraded my system to total PCI. Got a used, with 30 day return, SB Vibra 16 card, PnP. Installed it, works okay though my TB card sounded a bit better but what the hey, eh! My problem is this, Win98 takes 4-EVER to come up. I mean it takes about 7 minutes before the desktop appears. Before, maybe 2 minutes, tops. Looked at my device manager, no conflicts, sharings, etc. It reports that everyones happy, except me of course. Went into the BIOS and reset the configuration switches. No good. Installed the latest drivers from SB site, still slow. Used Norton Win Check utility to see if anything was odd, old drivers, etc. Reported a few bad links but nothing related to the SB card. When I got the card, I did not get an installation disk but windows loaded everything okay. I got an AMD 450, 256 mem, Voodoo 3, Win98 Second Ed., etc, etc,. Anyone got any ideas?
