Ok, just a suggestion; have you tried the following: http://www.microsoft.com/products/hardware/sidewinder/downloads/p_3dpro/sw3d pro.vxd This is a link to sw3dpro.vxd, which is a newer version than the one that ships with Windows Me (just confirmed; Windows Me version number is reported as 3.0.0.0, linked version reports as 3.0.1.0). I just pulled out my old Microsoft Sidewinder 3D Pro, part number 63545, and confirmed that if you are using the 3.0.0.0 version, the joystick will not be detected on either the SBLive! Platinum, or the SBLive! (original part). After replacing the above referenced file, and rebooting, the joystick is recognized. Now, one would think that Microsoft would have included the 3.0.1.0 file as part of the new build of its OS, since this problem is known, documented, almost 18 months old..... http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q236/1/13.ASP Short version of above referenced link, if bus speed >= 100MHz, probably going to need the 3d Pro patch. Hope this helps.
