give it up.  after activating my product support, M$ simply told me that if
the new .vxd didn't work, then use the analog mode.    In their words, it's
a "Known issue."  That means go buy a newer joystick because your processor
is too fast for our code timing and we're too lazy to do a damn thing about
it.

When i had an AMD K6/2-450 the patch would fix my prob.  Now I have a Duron
700 and the patch doesn't work anymore.
