Creative USB gamepad not working

My USB gmepad has stopped working. When it is plugged into the USB port,
unknown hardware is detected, and it refuses to work. I've tried to manually
instal the driver, but win98 says the driver wont work, and refuses to
install. Does anyone have any ideas?
