Greetings,

If you came in with an MS and are planning to request a course waiver,
the deadline is October 1.

Course waivers are granted in special conditions: for example, an
exemplary student who already holds an MS in Computer Science from a
peer institution, or a student who has already taken qualifying courses
through the Graduate School as an Advanced Special Student (i.e., while
their application is pending).

No graduate courses taken while a student was an undergraduate will be
waived. Course waivers will usually not reduce the number of "A"s
required in courses taken at the University of Maryland.

Waivers are granted by the Director of Graduate Studies in consultation
with area representatives. Requests for waivers should be filed in the
Graduate Office, 1151 AVW, no later than October 1. See
 <http://www.cs.umd.edu/Grad/policy-manual.shtml#8.4.qualifying-coursework>
http://www.cs.umd.edu/Grad/policy-manual.shtml#8.4.qualifying-coursework
for specific information on what is required in your course waiver
request.

As usual, just let me know if you have questions.

Jenny
