Hi...after 15 years of pc abuse, I finally acquired a "new" decstation
5000/240 to learn unix on. I received only 2 small hardware manuals with
it, but successfully loaded Ultrix 4.3 (cd-rom) on the system and have
it up and running. The sys came with a nice sony '20 monitor and has a
good graphics card in it, along with the cd-rom and a storage "box" with
two 1+ gig hd's in it, and also a maxoptix t4-2600 optical drive. When I
installed ultrix, i also installed _all_ the subsets that were offered
duribg the install...now i have a small prob...not being real
unix-proficient at this moment in time,i'd like to call in to my isp
with this system so i can maybe dl some programs/screensavers, etc. ...
but i do not know where the comm progs have been installed anywhere on
this sys! i know it installed the tcp/ip stacks, etc. .. buti'm lost as
to where in *&^%$ they are _at_! Can anyone give me a clue as to where
to start to configure the communications abilities of this machine? any
default sub-dirs i should look at? not having a manual is a real bother
at this point, so i would be very grateful for any help....thanks!
