I'd appreciate a "roadmap" from anyone who has achieved this. >Do you still need a DEC disk for initial installation? I received helpful replies within a few hours! To summarise: 1. For a fresh installation, a non-DEC disk works as well as a DEC disk. I verified this with the Imprimis 94601-15 I needed to use. 2. It's also possible to prepare a boot disk from a running system, using newfs with the rzxx disk type, and then dd-ing the boot blocks. Many thanks to all who replied. Philip J.
