We have an established WAN with IP addresses beginning 126.XXX.XXX.XXX
which our network people are in the process of upgrading and changing
addresses to 10.XXX.XXX.XXX. As part of this process a small office has
been converted and a problem has appeared.

When user (10.40.8.12) telnets to 126.0.1.71 the telnet application
shows "connected" instantly in the title bar but it takes approx. 1
minute for the "login:" prompt to appear. Once the Login prompt appears
then everything works perfectly but if we logout and try to reconnect it
then takes another minute for the "login:" prompt to reappear.

If I add 10.40.8.12 to the ULTRIX /etc/hosts file the problem disappears
but obviously this is not a solution as it is a DHCP address and subject
to change.

126.0.1.71 is DECstation 5000 running ULTRIX 4.4 with a static address
and route to 10.40.8.0 (gateway 126.1.31.1 a CISCO router)

DHCP Client (W95 PC ) granted IP address 10.40.8.12 subnet mask

Does anyone have any ideas?
