Dear Colleagues, We have a cluster of vax 6340 and three decstations 3100. VAX is rather old and slow and its maintenace is about to be stopped. Those decstations however have good monitors and could serve as X terminals. Unfortunately the version of vms which is installed on these decstations is very obsolete (5.2) and has no tcp/ip. On the other hand, we have lost all the specialists who knew vms. We use Unices (FreeBSD and Linux) (and certainly dos/win). My question is: Is there anybody who stopped using some decstation under Ultrix, (which e.g. exhausted its service limit), and has some unused (i.e. already useless) licenses for the operating system and would be so kind to donate this system for us? The other question would follow the first, if "yes": How to install Ultrix on such a decstation? I heard also that somebody started to port linux to decstations. What is the state of this effort? Thank you in advance. Sincerely Yours Alexander
