Barb, I think they generally don't care if non-smokers have to share their smoke.
But then this is a generation of youth known for their apathy, not concern.

It wouldn't have occured to me to take time off from college to skateboard
practice, or mutilate my body with piercings. Maybe college isn't as
hard as it used to be? It doesn't seem to be as totally consuming to kids
today as it was for me and my classmates. The university seems to be
evolving (or de-evolving) into merely an extention of highschool.
