Fellow graduate students,
The UCSU spring election is April 13-15. You can vote on the Web
from any computer with a Web browser. Just go to
http://www-ucsu.colorado.edu/ivote
or follow the link from the UGGS Web site. There is an automated form for
voting, along with biographies of candidates and information on referenda.
It's quick and easy, so please vote.
There are 12 referenda on the ballot this semester. Nine of them ask
for student fee increases, one would reduce students fees, and two are
procedural changes. Rather than broadcast a long list of recommendations,
we would urge you to consider one thing: what is the real cost-benefit
comparison for each fee increase? Some of the proposed fees are fairly
large and would benefit only a handful of people. Do you really want to
pay for those? The UMC, on the other hand, is something everyone uses.
That fee increase is large, but it wouldn't start until 2001. It's your
money. Think about it.
If you want some personal recommendations on each item, feel free to
email us, and we'll get back to you promptly. But whatever you do, take
a few minutes to get online and vote. Urge your colleagues to vote too.
