Health insurance isn't cheap! Wardenburg insurance is subsidized.
I have since graduated. To add me to my wife's insurance costs
about $700 per year. This is the cheapest option -- a rider on
your employer-subsidized family insurance. Otherwise, it will cost
much, much more. Probably the cheapest option is Kaiser. Call them.

But, reconsider Wardenburg. If you are a TA or RA, the cost is
further subsidized. But, more important, the care is pretty good.
And it is immediately available here on campus, where and when you
need it. There is an unfortunate rumor that Wardenburg quality is
poor. It's clearly not true, especially in these days of "managed"
"care". I had several occasions to use Wardenburg during my Ph.D..
The equipment and procedures are all up-to-date. Its lab is among
the best in the state. The physical therapy clinic is superb.

Sure, there are people with individual complaints. Especially
students who have been spoiled by their family provider, suddenly
face-to-face with institutional "managed" care. But Wardenburg
has been doing "managed" care for years. They at least know what
it is and how to do it. And, they know how to deal with a student
population. Many private providers have NOT figured out "managed"
care, and bungle it. I have had to deal with several medical
nightmares -- mostly administrative, but nightmares nonetheless --
since leaving Wardenburg's friendly umbrella.
