But that's not what you said.  The question was "name a rational
reason to oppose gay marriages" and you said "the spread of AIDS".
How will DOMA encourage celibacy?

If you have chicken pox it turns out
best if you *don't* scratch the itch, even though it feels
as if it helps.

There really isn't a way to pass a law which will cause gay 
people to become celibate.  It's possible that something like
gay marriage would encourage monogamy.  Your frustration with
the spread of AIDS is leading you to advocate solutions that
"scratch the itch", but which don't really help, and maybe
even make things worse.

Sometimes the thing that you rationally know will help
the most, is counterintuitive and uncomfortable in the short
term.
