gs> I wonder if an absolute straight could join the CU LBG group?
f > Of course they could.
What if such a person was an ardent homophobe?
Is that silly? Yes - but why do some people feel obligated to force (and this
is what we're talking here) others to accomodate them? Why would a homophobe
join an LBG group any more than a homosexual would join the homophobic Col-
lege Republicans?
If I feel I'm not welcome, I don't push the issue - why do others?
gs> Men have been excluded from the Take Back the Night march (where's the out-
rage there?) and from International Women's Week fora on lesbian issues.
f > Strictly speaking "men have been excluded from the TBTN **march**"--some
events ask the men to let the women march alone while the men hold their
own program.
Which contradicts:
f > Men are never prohibited from marching.
In Boulder, at CU, men have been prohibited from marching. And men have been
(as I said) excluded (and ejected) from IWW fora.
If the CRs exclusion of homosexuals is wrong, the above two things are wrong.
gs> Dworkin agitates for censorship; Canada takes her ideas to heart and cen-
sors *her* "work". Just desserts, I say.
f > Which work?
Examine

http://www-fofa.concordia.ca/arth/censor/customs.htm
particularly:
"Andrea Dworkin's books 'Women Hating' and 'Pornography: Men Possessing Wom-
en' were seized and declared illegal in Canada [...]
And to hear Dworkin's (and MacKinnon's) side of the story:

f > You seem to be spouting things that simply are not true out of ignorance.
I'm basing my views on reasonably recent actions of CU-supported groups. If
you can show me that men were never excluded from TBTN marches, nor IWW fora,
then I'll have to get my eyes checked.
f > It's not worth my time to try to enlighten you.
Indeed.
Freedom of association, like freedom of speech, is an unassailable right for
some people only some of the time. Scary how folks treat our rights - is it
any wonder the government runs roughshod over them so frequently?
