I have an application where it seems reasonable to open several input files and leave them open. Times between reads vary from fractions of a second to hours (or a weekend). While the files are open (almost always), one of the pathnames is displayed in the progress notes spot (the lower right who-line area). This looks a little silly and appears to block more relevant displays. Question: Is there a "supported" mechanism to block this behavior and if so what is it? I know that I can (1) rewrite some of the who-line logic or (2) run a timer interrupt and close the files if, say, 5 mins have passed and they haven't been accessed. However, in my opinion, these solutions are like hitting a fly with a sledge hammer. Thanks in advance for any more elegant clues. Jeff Barnett
