Here is some more information in addition to the help others have offerred.

Symbolics's support number is 800-824-4263. They can sell you the Macintosh
floppies with the Macintosh Genera application, system extension (control panel
actually), fonts, etc. They can also sell you the Genera CD-ROM (actually, I
think there are images of the above floppies on this CD-ROM also. They could
also sell you a Symbolics keyboard and interface box if you wanted them.

Remember that for the Macivory to access the CD-ROM you must have it configured
in low speed mode.

Get a disk drive devoted entirely to the MacIvory. Some users here have found
that when a System 7 Macintosh is also manipulating files on the same disk as an
Ivory, that file system corruption can occur.

You should be able to read the Genera system software directories directly off
of the CD-ROM. Those files are there both as "Distribution Tape" images and as
an ISO file system. The documentation topic "Using a CD-ROM as a SYS Host"
describes how to do this. You won't be able to read this documentation
yourself, but others have also wondered how to do this.

At some point you'll need to set up your namespace and site. You can configure
your MacIvory to be "standalone". Someone on this list can help you when the
time comes.

You'll find that the MacIvory Model II is slow.

I'm sure you'll find resurrecting your MacIvory II to be a much more rewarding
experience than if the effort were put into an old PC or CP/M system.

I have a chance to get a MacIvory II board. I have a Mac IIci to plug it into,
but I need to know what else I'll need to make the board operational. I've
heard that you need a NuBus memory board, a custom keyboard and mouse, and a
whack of disk space. If anybody could help me, it would be much appreciated.
    Specifically,
      1) What special software (if any) is required on the Macintosh?
      2) What other hardware will be needed, beyond the board itself? How much
	 memory and disk?
      3) What software is available to make the board operational, over and above
what will be needed on the Macintosh?
      4) Can I use the system for Lisp development, or is it for delivering Lisp
systems, as I saw in one reference?
I currently use MCL and I've owned Symbolics machines in the past, so I'm not
completely at a loss... But I have no experience with MacIvory systems, at all.
