Hi David (and SLUGers), Thanks for the tip you sent. > > Try setting RPC::*UNIX-CHECK-PASSWORDS-FOR-SHOW* to NIL. > > --David Gadbois Unfortunately, I've become rusty (and I never did really grasp enough) on my lisp/Genera (working with lame-o Win95). Can you please elaborate on how I implement your suggestion. I tried what seemed the obvious way, typing (setq RPC::*UNIX-CHECK-PASSWORDS-FOR-SHOW* NIL) in a lisp window, but I doubt if that's right, especially since it didn't fix the problem. To Recap: Symbolics 3650 on Genera 8.1.1 (with NFS server/client 425.0) Pentium 100 on Windows 95 and OmniNFS for Win95 (this is NFS client/server/printer) ** I'm able to mount and access the Symbolics drive from the PC, but when I attempt to access the PC using FSEdit I get an "access denied" error (and other messages, based on my fiddling with User Property NFS-REMOTE-FILESYSTEM stuff). I may be totally messed up in the namespace object for the PC Host too, so I'll include a bit of that here. These are lines from the namespace object for the PC host, named Strider. They show the current settings. If anyone can point out errors/omissions, I'd appreciate the help. Site : DDREAMS Nickname : ST Short Name : ST Machine Type : PC System Type* : UNIX42 (I tried UNIX here too) Address : 87.0.0.6 Pretty Name : Strider Service : FILE UDP NFS Server Machine: Yes Internet Domain Name: ddreams User Property : NFS-REMOTE-FILESYSTEM / c:\ (I've tried many other things here ??) On the PC side the Exported Paths are C:\ and D:\ All suggestions welcomed! Thanks, Scott
