I visited the NCRR trail north of Baltimore on Sunday (January 28), at Monkton Road near mile 4, and the next road crossing north of there. The trail was an icy deathtrap, with several inches of exposed solid ice along nearly the entire length we explored. It was difficult to walk along the trail; biking was absolutely impossible. (The portions due north of both road crossings were, however, clear of ice for about 30 feet.) They seemed to have had some severe flooding of the stream that flows adjacent to the trail, and the sides of the trail seemed to show that the trail itself was flooded in spots. Waiting for the thaw, -tom jones Greenbelt, Maryland
