Ok, well... here are some nice restaurants in the area that I think are pretty good.. :) (1) Ledo's Pizza : They are at the shopping center on University Blvd. with the bakery and the Shopper's Food Warehouse. (Just go on University Blvd. past the University...down the hill.. the center is right there, its really small.. ;) ) Like someone mentioned before, they do have the best pizza in the world. Ledo's has recently franchised itself around MD, but everyone I have talked to said that the best Ledo's Pizza comes from the Original. (most people think the franchised kind is kinda gross... :/ ) The atmosphere is DEFINATELY loud, but quite friendly. If you go around dinner time.. expect to wait in a long line!! This is a VERY popular place in the area...and its praises are sung all over the US.. ;) WHen you go, you must try the pizza no matter what...it has a wonderfully flaky crust and the tomato sauce is to die for. I wish I could describe the taste better.. you'll just have to trust me on this one.. ;) (BTW..try the Pineapple and Ham!!). They have the traditional Italian dishes too though, which are, on the whole, all right. By and large though, people go for the pizza. Ledo's IS a must-go for all new residents of the area... (2) Fireside Inn: On Greenbelt road, across the street from Beltway Plaza, its a big white building... you can't miss it. ;) Basically a steak house, but its really good.. although kinda expensive too (although I have never actually bought anything myself.. my dad does.. ;) ). It has a wonderful atmosphere...very quiet, candlelight, I like it alot. They serve steaks, salad bar, Italian, Seafood.. and they have Ledo's pizza shipped to them from the original Ledos (Re-occuring theme!! ;) ). The staff seem to be pretty helpful too.. (3) Bently's : Ok, this is on the route, its the restaurant right next door to The 'Vous. Nice atmosphere and very friendly. The food is pretty good, and I really like their Sunday buffet. (I haven't been there in a whiole though.. :/ ) Eating "on the patio" is a wonderful experience, especially during the spring and summer months. They have a variety of foods from Pizza to Hamburgers to Salad. They also have a bake shop close by called "Parts And Assembly" where all their pasteries and stuff come from. Its REALLY good!!! They also cater some, and I hear that they are also good at that. (4) Silver Diner -- Laurel : Ok, this is pretty far off...but its WORTH IT!! It is located in Laurel, on Route 1 , right before Laurel Centre Mall (Its a big silver building, in 50s style, with a neon sign on it). EXCELLENT food, AMAZING service, HUGE portions (well, I don't really eat alot, but OTHER people's food looks HUGE! ;) ), and a WONDERFUL and unique atmosphere. Basically, its bringing back the old 50s diner. The prices are a bit expensive, but the food is more than worth it. Everyone I have gone to it with say that the food is great. I gotta agree! ;) The meals are basically "American Classics" like Hamburgers, steaks, Liver and Onions, Salads, etc. They also have vegetarian dishes, heart-healthy dishes, and the like. Whatever you do... ORDER THE HONEY MUSTARD SAUCE!! ITS TO DIE FOR!! They make it homemade in the restaurant...just like everything else! The atmosphere, like I said, is great. Really great 50s decor, jukeboxs at every table (and they work...and play only oldies!! ), and just the most friendly and helpful staff I have ever encountered at ANY restaurant! Really, you will be blown back when you leave the Silver DIner.. you really will! Ummm, if I think of any more, Ill get back to you! :) -KAD-
