I live in Laurel, so here some suggestions:
Pasta Plus (in Laurel, on the Rt. 1 "strip" near rt. 198 intersection; also
in Bowie, but I don't know where) has excellent Italian food and nice
enough decor, plus good prices. I haven't been there for quite a while,
though, so I can't vouch for recent quality/prices.
Mr. Wang's Hunan on Main st. in Laurel (near the rt. 216 intersection)
is a very good Chinese place --- probably the best one in the Laurel area, in
my opinion. Not expensive. If you happen to be at the Laurel Lakes? Mall for
a movie (the mall with Hechinger's; I forget the names of malls), the
chinese place there is pretty decent, too. I think it's called
China D'lite.
Maharaja on Greenbelt Rd. (across from Goddard SFC) is a great Indian place.
It's small but nicely furnished inside, the proprietoress is really nice,
and the food is quite good.
