I moved to DC from Boston, so I figure I'm qualified to address this question. :-) I haven't tried any seafood restaurants here, but the best fish I've had in DC was at the Austin Grill (Wisconsin near Calvert St., NW). I had grilled salmon with tomatillo butter, which was grilled to perfection, and delicious. It was served with tasty accompaniments of cilantroed rice and sauteed squash. The salmon was a special. The specials change frequently, and they might not have fish every day. Prices are reasonable; I think the salmon was about $13, and most of the things on the menu are less expensive (and not as delicious, though still enjoyable). I considered Legal Seafood to be too expensive, but that could be due to the fact that I was a student when I lived in Boston. Nomi Harris harris@ncbi.nlm.nih.gov
