The China-America Festival of Film and Culture is looking for short
films that explore themes of diversity, humanity and cross-cultural
understanding. The festival is sponsored in the United States by The
Rose Group, an organization with a mission to use film to promote
better understanding and goodwill between the U.S. and China.

Judging will be on the basis of technical skill, creativity, and
insight into the subject. The top three winners will receive a cash
award of $500 and will be invited to travel to Beijing, China in May,
2007.  Airfares, accommodation and sightseeing trips are included.
Opportunities to interact with Chinese filmmakers and international
film communities in Beijing will be provided.

Although this short-film competition is sponsored by the China-America
Festival of Film and Culture and includes a trip to China as a prize,
the films submitted do not need to be about China or any other country
or culture. The intention of the competition is to find films that
explore the complexities of human understanding.

Anyone is eligible to enter the competition. The entries must be 30
minutes or less in length, and can be submitted in DVD or VHS in NTSC
format. All submissions must have been completed in 2005 or 2006 and
must be in English or have English subtitles.

To enter the competition, an entry form and the film must be submitted
by March 3, 2007.  Entry forms and instructions can be found at the

will be announced by March 31, 2007..
