If it's a Phazer they've been found to be very effective at ranges of
3 feet or less.  Others might beat it by a foot or two.

Jammers are illegal in my state regardless whether they are active or
passive.   They don't work but if you want to toss your money away on
one that's your choice.   

Jammers have been proven effective at only one thing.... separating a
fool from his money.
