No, I was driving in the right lane as per usual at about 5 miles faster
than the speed limit, and several people passed me on the left. Some
nimrod came roaring up behind me (in the right lane) and started
flashing his lights at me. I kept going at the same pace and direction
as I was going (what else could I do after all?). The person who had
been passing me on the left (a pick up truck) was still opposite me.

So this person swerved into the left lane and flashed his lights
repeatedly at the pick up. The guy in the pick up stopped passing me
and maintained speed at about 8-10 mph faster than the speed limit. I
dropped back a couple of car lengths to give him a chance to pull over
in front of me, and he did not. He dropped back even with me. I
speeded up a little to see if he wanted to get in behind me, and he did
not. He stayed even with me just a little ahead and would not let me
pass on the right.

If the guy had just been a little more patient, he could have passed me
on the left like the other people were doing. Instead he apparently
pissed off the guy in the pick up (who eventually made a left turn -
this was not a limited access highway).

So I just relaxed and stayed where I was. And kind of enjoyed the
frustration of the guy behind us who weaved in and out and flashed his
lights etc. until when the pick up eventually made a left turn several
miles down the road. Not that I think my enjoyment was particularly
nice or something to be proud of, and I wouldn't have done what the guy
in the pick up did, but I was happy to help him.

I don't think what I did was rude, although, as I said, it wasn't
particularly nice of me.
