Since I a.) exceed the speed limit regularly and b.) serve my own self-interest to a degree while on the road, I would have to disagree about your transformation comment. The reason I disagree is quite simple, you can't teach an old dog new tricks. The way I drive is a product of my individual character, and I adjust this according to the driving conditions I am confronted with. Since I am a pragmatist and would like to go on living well into my 80's I tend to drive with regards to my own personal safety (i.e. watching for the cell phone heads and the traffic weavers). I'm not claiming to be perfect in my driving practices (everyone makes a screw-up now and again) but I do drive with pragmatism, which includes surpassing a defacto speed limit if the conditions are allowable. Unfortunately, since I see so few people on the road today demoonstrate any shred of common sense, I do have to say that your comment does apply to a good percentage of the drivers on the road.
