I think we've gotten off the same wavelength somewhere. They're measured the same way and as pointed out above if the values are equal the results will be the same. If they aren't, they won't. >My car's better-than-average braking distances are NOT an argument for >getting out of a speeding ticket; they ARE an argument for explaining why >my Interstate accident risk at 80 is similar to a large number of drivers >at 70 (as far as braking distances are concerned). My car's better than yours so I can speed and you can't. Sounds suspiciously like something I heard in a children's sandbox recently only they were talking about their dads. :=] >> One more excuse. Since I don't speed it's not something I'm concerned with. And I notice you didn't ask the question. I guess you already knew the answer. :=] >Nevertheless, I never claimed every town was a Lindale, OH, >or even most towns, but the fact that these towns exist at all proves that >even police departments can be influenced by the power of money. Not being familiar with Lindale I can't comment however being very familiar with many other PD's and how they operate I can say this is not a serious problem. My own department relies heavily on sales tax for revenue. Ticket revenue doesn't even get returned to our budget. It goes into the General Fund which is the same as a black hole. >Why? Why is the American people's desire for mobility "bullshit?" If you can go to the 7-Eleven without robbing it you can drive without speeding. >Ahh, so you DO have a financial incentive to hold on to your beliefs about >speeding. No. I already have far more business than I can handle. I'm much more interested in getting from point A to point B without some idiot blowing me off the road in the process. >Now things are becoming very clear. But in response to your >statement, let's get clear what I'm arguing here. I'm arguing that >Interstate speed limits don't reflect the speeds we actually drive, and I >think that should change. That's funny. When it was 55 mph this argument was used. Now the interstate limits here are 70 and 75 yet the argument still goes on. It's bogus. Find a new one. >Well, if it were just me, than the MAJORITY of Americans wouldn't break >our Interstate speed laws every day, would they? If the interstates were accident free you'd have a point. They aren't and you don't. Have a nice week. efaubion@oklahoma.net http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Prairie/6123/
