And the applet is for illustrative purposes only, however it does pretty well illustrate a number of crashes that have actually happened. About the only thing on it I disagree with is the speeder usually plow into the other vehicle rather than spinning off the road but both scenarios have happened so it's a reasonably fair representation. Driver A pulls onto the cross street and Driver B is speeding toward him. Crash! Who's fault? Both? Based on court decisions, yes. Had each driver obeyed the law there would be no crash. The only time I've seen a single driver found at fault in instances like this is when Driver A is traveling at an extremely high rate of speed, then he and he alone gets tagged for the whole show. >I wouldn't explain anything to the officer. Attitude plays a tremendous role in determing whether a traffic stop results in a verbal warning, a written warning, a no-point cite or a full blown cite. Oh sure, if I see someone doing 80 in a 50 it's a ticket no matter what, but for the guy doing 12 over maybe I'll give him a break and maybe I won't. >I'll leave any explaining for court.
