Walt Horning <whorning@pipeline.com> said something like:
: So why is it called "speeding" when a civilian exceeds the limit, but
: not when a cop does?

I think everyone agrees that the issue is with OFF-duty LEOS speeding,
not on-duty -- we all want them to get through town as best as possible
while on the job, I'd reckon.

Anyway Walt, this is an old topic. You're starting to repeat yourself.
Remember the cop from Alexandria? Her alias was "parrot droppings" or
something like that. It all boils down to that they speed because they
can, and consider an employment perk, no different from the free coffee I
get at work or the paperclip you might take home from the office. However,
I'm yet to meet a non-cop who feels that it's a justifiable perk...

: Ticket books are no more useful than toilet paper.

Nah. My plan has always been to make the speed limits reasonable (85th
percentile) then enforce with zero tolerance. Never happen, though --
tickets are a guaranteed revenue stream.
