That's brilliant. The truly aggressive drivers, (and I am one) will still speed. If a given stretch of 65-mph has its posted limit raised to 70, e.g., then I and most others (given decent conditions: light traffic, dry road, good visibility, good vehicle, alert driver, etc.) will probably go 75. Personally, I *love* to drive fast, but generally, in the conditions in which I find myself, "fast but still safe" is rarely over the limit+5. Aside to Earl, I find you to be one of the more articulate and intelligent posters to this group, and I know you are a traffic cop. I have a question. Nearly every day, I find it safer to speed under this circumstance: I am in the left lane, driving the posted limit (or 2-3 mph over) on an interstate, passing a semi. We approach an entrance ramp. Rush hour traffic is entering the ramp at a steady speed, and there is room in front of me, so I speed up (to maybe limit+10) to give the semi room to move to the left behind me. If I do not, he may either crowd me off the left lane, or have to brake suddenly to avoid the entering traffic. Is my speeding justified? (I feel like the devil tempting Christ by asking you this...) ...Bob ****************************************************************** ***FORGET WORLD PEACE!!
