: Get a grip!..."THEY'RE *FOG* LIGHTS!!! If someone doesn't see you, try
: using

Hrm. Fog lights are _usually_ yellow. Very few places in CA get a lot of
fog. Most the "fog" lights are actually what the europeans call "driving"
lights. You should be familiar with these, Don. These lights are not yellow.
Adjusted correctly as not to blind other drivers, all they do is widen
your field of view in the dark and make you easier to see.

: your left turn signal first, and then a quick flash of the high beams if
: that doesn't work.

Just so people know. Here in CA, it's a very expensive fine to flash someone
with your brights when you are within 500' (day or night) of another
vehicle.

Had a guy today come up on me on my way to work with his left turn signal
on. I was in the left lane on 101 in my M3 north bound towards Cisco from
south San Jose. I let him pass. He turned the turn signal off as he passed
me. Seems to work fine. Caught my attention and all.

: only to leave you in the dust when an opening appears. Night vision
: is a rather delicate thing. It takes approx. 30 mins. for your eyes
: to adjust properly to see well in the dark, but only a quick flash of
: light to ruin that adjustment...I'm not shooting from the hip on this,
: it's what they teach you in flight school, in regards to night flying.

This is also something to consider when you are tailgating, or even just
following another vehicle closely at night with your NORMAL lights on.
This is rude to the other driver, and a bit dangerous as it adversely
affects their night vision. Please be considerate out there. It's not a
game.
