That's one drawback of having the AWD drivetrain; extra weight.
Yet another is the added complexity. It's not a whole lot of fun to have
your viscous coupling lock up on you at 65mph.
Yet another: try to get a tow operator with a flatbed -- the recommended
way to transport the AWD.
Don't get me wrong; I still feel the benefits of the AWD system outweigh
(no pun intended) the downsides.

When on full boost, the fuel map is thrown out the window, and you get a
very rich mixture in the cylinders. As a result, all the unburned fuel
makes a nice black cloud behind the car. Not exactly fuel-efficient or
EPA compliant, but it is a lot of fun.

The Mitsu 4G63 engine is surprisingly robust, and will handle 20+ lbs of
boost without having to make any modifications.
