A truck that swerves or panic brakes has a whiplash effect on its multiple trailers that can be very difficult to anticipate when you are right next to it, boxed in by traffic. > >A collision with somebody else when you have the green light is almost >always preventable, if you properly look to the left and right whenver >you are about to go through any intersection. You are full of it here, Rahul. Calculate the length of time a car at 90MPH, approaching an intersection where only the width of a 6' sidewalk separates the building from the street, is in your field of view. You are going 35MPH. Go ahead and assume that you are looking in the direction the car is coming from at that time, and that it is the maximum (ie, the car is in the right lane coming from the right, and you are in the left lane), with two lanes plus parking in all directions, two-way streets. Now calculate how much time you have to keep from being hit from a blind alley. (This reduces the problem to how long the car takes to go the width of one lane plus parking plus the width of the sidewalk - about 22 feet, let's say.) > >See .sig. below. >-- >Rahul Dhesi <dhesi@spams.r.us.com> >a2i communications, a quality ISP > "Any idiot can avoid automobile accidents that are his own fault.
